(NEW) League News! | Posted by: [CSTF]Bradapalooza11/02/2008
Our delightful scout, Uyukio, has set to work on creating a 6v6 team for our clan of Highlander lovers. From what I hear, they don't even use snipers =O.
There is an internal scrim on Saturday Nov. 8th at 9PM EST. Come ready to play the class you would expect to play in leagues. If you have no idea, find Uyukio (or that awesome Brad guy), and you will be informed about the class you would likely be needed as.
Also, Happy Halloween!

(Old) League News! | Posted by: [CSTF]Bradapalooza10/24/2008
Due to partially to my extreme laziness, I recently noticed that the only time anyone recognizes we were actually good at league play, is when I tell them so. So, without farther ado, here is our credentials for not being as horrible as once believed!
STA Silver Champions:
Can't Stop These Fools
STA Highlander:
4th Ranked: Can't Stop These Fools
Big thanks to all our players, who should all be rockin a super sleek ° to show off their league prowess. = D

Reminiscing upon days of yore | Posted by: [CSTF]®BuckingFastard08/31/2008
I'm sitting here at 2 a.m., freshly awakened by the need to go number one, which I do outdoors, since my backdoor is closer to my bedroom than my bathroom is. And I'm thinking, as I sometimes do, that perhaps I need to keep the lid on the trashcan down for now on, because I'm pretty sure I just saw a naughty rodent watching me. But aside from this disturbing tale -- due to which you undoubtedly have evacuated your stomach of its contents -- I would like to remember and share some of the moments of the LAN party that I never got around to mentioning before now.
First, I need to say, [CSTF]Masaknutz has made a valuable donation to human survival by encouraging me to discard my disgusting, dust/tobacco/soda-gunked keyboard by giving me one of his own backup keyboards as a gift. I think you Masa, but I'm also fiercely loyal to certain things, and one of them is my keyboard, especially since I spent like 40 bucks on it 8 years ago. Yeah, 40 bucks for a plain ole keyboard by IBM. I bought it hoping it was one of the clackity-clack keyboards you might sometimes hear. But it wasn't, nor isn't. But it's my 40 dollar investment, and I've grown fond of it, so when I got home, I did something Airborne recommended before you, kind Masa, donated to me your spare keyboard -- I got some Q-tips (well, they're generic, so they're called "cotton swabs") and some rubbing alcohol and went to work cleaning it. The result is a keyboard that does not look like it has been used for 8 years without ever being cleaned. Now it looks like a keyboard that was never cleaned for 8 years until recently. But I doubt I'll keep using it by the time the next LAN party rolls around. First, a lot of the letter ink has worn off some of the keys (no, it wasn't the rubbing alcohol, just years of use, sheesh. I think.). Secondly, after the look Kemp's wife gave me when she saw my keyboard, well, I'd never felt so much like a 10 year old being scolded by his momma for having no common sense. I mean, that was a look of pure "you ought to be ashamed of yourself, bringing a keyboard like that here." I dare not risk receiving a similar stare next time CSTF gets together, and now fear Mrs. Kemp greatly.
Another thought that has stumbled into my brain is an incident of an amusing and messy nature, that of the exploding Diet Coke. You see, when I opened one of the Diet Cokes at the LAN party. it exploded all over me, drenching me in aspartamey-goodness that is diet cola. My shirt and shorts were soaked; I even took a picture of them for this then-future news post. Well, everyone had a good laugh, and I cleaned up the mess of Diet Coke that had bloomed into a five-foot mushroom cloud about me. I told Moonshiner I was sorry for creating such a mess, and he kindly accepted my apology. But now I must confess an awful truth -- the exploding Diet Coke was caused by my own ineptitude. You see, with all the stuff in the fridge packed so tightly, no cold air was circulating, so the drinks were staying warm even though they were in the fridge. So I did the logical thing (well, logical for a guy with a squirrel for a brain) and put a few Diet Cokes in the freezer. This turned out to be a brilliant maneuver. The next three Diet Cokes I drank were nice and cold. Unfortunately, the Cokes cooled faster than the rate at which I drank them, and, yes, you guessed it, unless you didn't guess it, in which case I'll tell you, I opened a can that had been in the freezer too long. Hence the explosion. Now you all know the embarrassing truth to this already embarrassing moment in time. But on the bright side, those other Cokes were REALLY nice and cold.
I have more tales, including a report of an outing in which four of us spent the day fruitlessly looking for a specific game (not Twister), but it's time for me to go back to bed, so they'll have to wait. Until then, I am forever yours,
-BF

Long Overdue News | Posted by: [CSTF]®PuckingFrocrastinator08/29/2008
It is that time of year when I am entrenched in a game so thoroughly engaging due to its outstanding graphics, sound, and storyline, that I tend to forget my duties as Official Newsperson of CSTF and Part-Time Drooler-Upon-Keyboards (LAN party reference -- jf you weren't there, then you're definitely square. Actually, why is square considered to be a bad shape? What about rectangle? I think square is getting a bad rap. Were I a square, I'd sue for defamation, not to mention file counter-suits against people who have sued because they poked their eyes out on one of my gorgeous corners. Those nimrods. If you see a corner, BE CAREFUL. It's not rocket science. Anyways, I digest.) SO, without further ado, here is:
STA TF2 News
Two weeks ago
First, to understand our present, we must learn of our past. Therefore, I shall report the scores of matches from two weeks ago, where CSTF's TF2 STA 8v8 Eastern Conference Screening Ladder team, or for short, CSTFTF28V8ECSLT, lost a thriller (I guess it was a thriller, I didn't actually see it, because, being a dedicated news reporter, I was probably asleep. dreaming of unicorns fighting multiple Pegasuses in a Battle Royale where there can be only one, though I'm not sure one of what, or where the Battle Royale takes place, though I'd assume it's the WWF with Mean Gene Green serving as MC Gene.). So anywhodunnits, I'll say the match was a good one, with CSTF facing our friends K}{R, and losing 7-3 on Well (the cp version, not the totally amazingly redone ctf version that took Valve approximately 2 minutes to make).
A day earlier, the CSTF TF2 STA Highlander team lost a very well-played match against the #1 team in the league, > (Team Veneration). The score does not reflect the effort and skill our team issued forth, nor the actual difficulty it presented to >, and I see nothing but success for our Highlander team in the future. That, and I like Pudding Pops.
Last week
On the 25th (of August, duh), The TF2 STA Highlander team fought .tj. (The Jobbers) and won, 7-1. It was a well-fought fight, a battle of a battle, a shindig of a hoedown. Good job team!
The TF2 8v8 STA team had similar success, defeating our foe 8-5 (or was it 8-1 ... I'm not sure, because I was watching the Robot Chicken Star Wars special on DVD probably; they don't call me "The Best Damn News Reporter" for nothing. Actually, they don't call me that at all.). In any case, we won, and have advanced to the Silver Bracket semifinals, pitted against .tj:z. (The Jobbers: Zoo). Good luck fellas! "They're (us) gonna fight, and they're (us) gonna win!" At least that's kinda what they say in Starship Troopers, an inspirational movie of which I recommend no one see the sequel, since I hear it is just plain awful, I mean straight-to-the-$3.99-DVD-bin-at-your-local-car-wash awful.
That's all I can think of right now, so I'll leave you be and be you leave. As they say in the U.S., goodbye!

CSTF STA 8v8 and Highlander Rock the Brock with a Win
The two STA teams pulled off an impressive victories this week. In Highlander, they posted an impressive score of something in the range of 1-100 points. In other words, I have no idea what the score was, but I hear it was a good one. You know what, this is sloppy reporting of me to shank you out of the complete and total news, so I'm actually going to -- get this -- do research. According to the Highlander website, we won 17-3. Way to go, guys! This coming Sunday? Monday? (more research needed ... ah hah! Monday!) our Highlander group has a title match against > (Team Veneration). Good luck guys and gal or possibly gals, depending on if Brian plays. Haha! Just kidding! Brian is to real men what I am to sensitive girly men. Which is to say, we both epitomize a value system that is important to many different people, but frankly this waxing poetic is boring the crap out of me, so let's move on.
On Tuesday night, our STA 8v8 TF2 team won 20-3 and 13-5 for a total, for you math rejects, of 33-8. Hats off to STA's leaders, [CSTF]Bradapalooza and [CSTF]DoctorDisaster, and the rest of the excellent STA team, including an unprecedented enormous score from Mavmike, for winning in such a dominant fashion. We should also accuse [CSTF]Airborne of being a traitor, as he filled in one of our opponent's roster spots in the second round, scoring 4 of their 5 caps in the process. Naughty! We'll have none of that, mister. Next Tuesday the 8v8 team plays -=|Mr|=- (Mr Clan) on cp_Well. Wait, what the hell, didn't we just play them a few weeks ago? Sheesh. Well, in any event, go team! Our team, of course. Cheering for Mr Clan would be treacherous on our part, especially if Airborne plays for the opposing clan again. No more of that!
